Nicholas Scull Obituary

Nicholas Scull STATESBORO, GA - Nicholas "Nick" Scull, a loving husband, proud father, and dedicated professional in collegiate athletics, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Statesboro, Georgia, at the age of 39, after a brave battle with colon cancer. His graveside service will be on Sunday, August 3, at 10:00 am, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Downtown Chapel. A native of DuBois, Pennsylvania, Nick was the beloved son of Steven and Robin Scull and a brother to Zachery Scull. From an early age, Nick was drawn to sports, mentorship, and community - a passion that guided both his personal and professional life. He graduated from Lock Haven University in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in sport administration and a minor in coaching. He went on to earn a Master of Science in sport management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Nick channeled his love of athletics into a meaningful career, most recently serving in Georgia Southern Athletics, where his dedication to college sports and student-athletes left a lasting impact. Above all, Nick was a family man. He was a loving husband to Melissa and a proud "girl dad" to daughters, Eliza and Isabella - roles he cherished most. His heart was fullest when he was with his girls, whether cheering them on, making them laugh, or simply enjoying everyday moments together. Nick is survived by his wife, Melissa; daughters, Eliza and Isabella; parents, Steven and Robin Scull of DuBois, PA; brother, Zachery Scull of Quincy, MA; grandfather, John Scull of DuBois, PA; uncle and aunt, Brad and Sally Jo Hanson of Rodanthe, NC; uncle and aunt, Tom and Stephanie Scull of Alva, FL; and cousin, Alex Scull of Los Angeles, CA. He was deeply loved by his in-laws, Ron and Sidni Yelman of Charleston, SC; Josh and Ashley Yelman of Lexington, SC; and Bryant and Hannah Smith of Daphne, AL. Nick was also cherished by countless colleagues and friends who admired his authenticity, reliability, and integrity. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Eric Scull; grandparents, Jim and Sandra Hanson; and grandmother, Norma Scull. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Meybohm Club inside the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, also known as The Hill, in Statesboro, GA, on Saturday, August 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The Hill was a project Nick worked tirelessly to help bring to life, and it stands as a lasting symbol of his vision and dedication. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Nick Scull Scholarship for Athletics Events, Facilities, and Grounds, supporting Georgia Southern students and continuing Nick's legacy of mentorship and opportunity. Nick's impact on his family, friends, and the world of college athletics will live on through every life he inspired.
