Nicholas Stefaniak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Dec. 24, 2025.
Nicholas Stefaniak Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, of natural causes.
Nick was born on March 17, 1935, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, to Anna and Nicholas Stefaniak Sr. He proudly served in the United States Army before pursuing higher education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he earned an Associate's Degree in 1959, launching a lifelong career as a computer programmer during the early and evolving years of the field.
On June 10, 1961, Nick married the love of his life, Barbara Stefaniak, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned decades. Family was at the heart of Nick's life, and he treasured time spent together-especially moments filled with laughter.
He was deeply rooted in his faith as a Ukrainian Catholic and was a longtime parishioner of St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church. His faith was expressed not only in worship, but also in service; from 1995 to approximately 2010, he volunteered faithfully at church, generously sharing his time and talent by baking for others.
In his earlier years, Nick was an active member of the Phoenix Barbershop Chorus from 1959 to 1961, and he enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including gardening, coaching youth baseball, and spending quality time with his family.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his son, Nicholas; his daughter, Mary; and his sister, Sister Barbara SSMI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Catherine Stefaniak; and his sister, Mary Kay Stefaniak-Priolette.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity in Nick's memory.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Hansen Funeral Chapel, located at 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. A funeral liturgy will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church.
