Nicholas Wood Obituary
July 5, 1993 - September 17, 2024
Nicholas Joseph Wood, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Box Butte General Hospital.
He was born on July 5, 1993 in Sidney, NE to Randy and Jennifer (Rolls) Wood. He grew up in Hemingford graduating from Hemingford High School in 2011. Since that time he has worked alongside his father and uncle in the family business of Wood Construction.
Nick was a lifelong learner, and a voracious reader. He was interested in all sorts of things and could engage in conversation with just about anyone, to discuss just about anything. He was a professional Devil's Advocate, and never met an argument he didn't thoroughly enjoy. Nick thought that proper grammar was important and never hesitated to offer helpful "advice" when he received a text that had misspelled words or improper syntax. He loved his family and was proud to be a Wood. He will be missed more than words can express.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Jennifer, his brother and his wife, Matthew and Vanessa Wood and their daughter, Vivian, along with his special friend, Katie Failor. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Sandra Rolls of Sidney and Marilyn Wood of Hemingford. Survivors also include his aunts and uncles, Bob and Johnna Wood, Sherri and Marty Petersen, Ron and Terri Wood, Kim and Lee Davies, Tom and Teresa Rolls, Steve and Kim Rolls and Scott and Stephanie Rolls and numerous cousins. His grandfathers, Richard Rolls and Dale Wood preceded him in death.
A wake service will be Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Father Matt Koperski will officiate. Interment will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.
The family would like memorials to be designated for Bobcats Beating Cancer, P.O. Box 603, Hemingford, NE 69348.
