Nick Yepko Sr., aged 80, passed away at his Vermilion residence on Wednesday, December 14, 2023, following an extended illness. Born on August 30, 1943, in Lorain, OH, he remained a steadfast resident of Vermilion throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Nick served in the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division during Vietnam. His dedication extended to his civilian career, where he spent 17 years as a truck driver for Hull Builders Supply, Vermilion and M.P. Brine Inc., retiring in 2005. He then delivered parts for NAPA Auto Parts, Vermilion.
Nick held memberships in several organizations, including being a lifelong member of AMVETS Post #22, a member of V.F.W. Post #7576, and a past member of the American Legion Post #397. His passions were deeply rooted in nature, finding joy in activities like fishing, hunting, canoeing, and engaging in card games.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Kay (nee White) Yepko; daughters, Haley Ann Wood of Shelby and Virginia Kathryn Land of Milan; son, Nick Yepko Jr. of Vermilion; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Arlene) Yepko of Amherst; and half-brothers, Donald Augustine of Lakewood and Anthony (Linda) Augustine of Vermilion.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, George Yepko, mother, Louise (nee Dudukovich) Augustine, brothers Ronald and Milan Yepko; sister, Sue Moore; great-granddaughter, Luna Wilson and half-sister, Sylvia Neal.
Private family services will be conducted to honor his life.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
