Nickolas Bubak Obituary
Nickolas Dale Bubak
December 12, 1986 - January 19, 2026
He "fought the good fight, he finished the race…he kept the faith".
On January 19, 2026, Nickolas Dale Bubak left this world surrounded by love at the age of 39. A devoted husband, father, son, and brother, Nick will be missed for his unending optimism and loving heart. Throughout his eight-month battle with cancer, Nick exhibited an unwavering faith in his God.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, January 23rd at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Celebrating Mass will be Father Don Buhrman. The family will host a reception following the Mass.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-6 PM with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6 PM, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Nick was born in North Platte to Ron and Theresa Bubak on December 12, 1986. He attended schools in Arapahoe and Louisville, graduating from Cozad High School in 2005. In 2008, he graduated from Central Community College studying Golf Course Management, Horticulture, and HVAC. He spent his professional life working for Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home, Heritage at Sagewood, and, most recently, Grand Island Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Leo's Catholic Church.
In 2014, Nick and Nichole Blake married and made their home in Grand Island. They were blessed with three precious daughters: Nora, Nellie, and Navy. Nick was the ultimate girl dad: painting nails, braiding hair, decorating birthday cakes, and building playhouses. He was so proud of the incredible people his young daughters are becoming, and he knew they would be his legacy.
Sports were a big part of his life. He enjoyed coaching his girls in softball and volunteering with his dad at the Nebraska State Track Meet for the past 20 years. He carried on the Bubak family tradition of cheering for the Huskers and Yankees. He was also an innovative thinker and took pleasure in using his talents to build and repair anything he put his mind to.
Nick loved people and accepted everyone, making friends easily and bringing joy to those around him. Everyone who knew him delighted in his bear hugs and entertaining stories, laughing at his sense of humor and fun-loving antics. He was always trying to make things better for others, sharing his love of amazing food, good music, random trivia, and, of course, quoting movie one-liners.
Nick is survived by his wife Nichole and his three cherished daughters Nora, Nellie, and Navy; his parents Ron and Theresa Bubak; sister and brother Andee (Clint) Felber, Nathan (Regan) Bubak and nephews, Kason and Kallan and niece Vivian; in-laws Angie and Brad Blake; sisters-in-law Deidre "Danielle" Blake and Kaylen Biltoft; paternal grandmother Bonnie Bubak; maternal grandmother Marilyn Anderjaska; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and valued friends. Nick is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Roland Anderjaska and Dale Bubak; brother-in-law, Lynn Biltoft; sister-in-law, Missy Blake; and aunt, Karen Bubak.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial being established in support of the girls' education and the Grace Foundation.
