Nicola DiProspero, 78, passed away on June 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born in Monteodorisio, Italy, Nicola was the son of the late Antonio and Grazia (D'Urbano) DiProspero. He had fond memories of growing up on his family's farm in Italy with his five siblings, sharing his mother's homemade angel hair pasta and red sauce.
His love of food and family extended into his college years as he learned to perfect a foamy cappuccino and make robust wine, while completing his degree in chemistry.
After college, his adventurous side grew and his desire to explore led him to start a new life in America where he met his wife, Silvia (Spinelli) DiProspero. The couple shared 50 years of marriage and memories from South Philadelphia to the suburbs and the shore.
He founded Simiano Construction Company in 1978 which he operated with his brothers and, later, his three sons, right up to the time of his passing.
In his later years, he was known as "Nonno" and was beloved by his 11 grandchildren. His love for his family was unmatched. One of his greatest joys was gathering everyone around the dining room table to share food, stories, and laughter.
In addition to his wife, Nicola is survived by his children: MaryGrace Austin (Craig), Antonio DiProspero (Danielle), Ottavio DiProspero (Julie), Nicola DiProspero, Jr. (Amanda) and Vittoria Greene (Ryan), and his 11 grandchildren: Gabrielle, Luke, Sophia, Christian, Alessandra, Francesca, Benjamin, Michael, Declan, Annabella, and Enzo.
In addition to his parents, Nicola was preceded in death by his siblings: Rosa, Edmundo, Angelo, Guiseppe, and Roberto.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church: 110 Saint Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, PA 19425, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. (also held at St. Elizabeth). Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Coatesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nicola's name may be made to Malvern Retreat House.
