Robert Townsend Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Townsend, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2026.

Bob was born on January 3, 1953, in Utica, New York, to Frank H. Townsend and Mary Kapfer Townsend, New Hartford, New York. He later made his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he lived with his sister, Janet.

He is survived by his sister, Janet, of West Chester, PA; his older brother, Jack (Barb), who resides in Utica, NY; Sally Claycomb Townsend, mother of his three nephews; Travis of Downingtown, PA; Matthew (Emma) of Steamboat Springs, CO; Shad (Kelly) and their children; Avery, Maxton, and Emersyn of Denver, Co.

Bob loved the game of golf. He found great happiness in helping young golfers improve their game and appreciate the challenge and beauty of the sport and each course. He often encouraged friends to experience the golf trip of their dreams while health and time allowed. For his 50th birthday, he joyfully celebrated by playing four renowned courses famous for their spectacular Pacific Ocean views: Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill in California, and Brandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes in Oregon.

While time parts us now, and clouds may separate us for a while, we cherish the many joyful memories shared together. The game is paused for now, but the grandest course awaits. Rest easy, until we meet again on the green.
