Nidia Mercado

Nidia Alonso was born on February 22, 1977, in Queens, New York, the youngest of three daughters to Raquel Mercado and Mario Alonso. As a baby, her family relocated to Miami, Florida, where she would grow up and build a life filled with love, faith, and family.
At the tender age of four, Nidia met Victor Mercado during a trip to her native Colombia. What began as a childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong love story when she returned to Colombia in 1998 with her firstborn and only daughter. In May 2000, Nidia and Victor were married, and she became known as Nidia Mercado. Together, they shared 25 beautiful years of marriage, raising three children Damilet, Victor Jr., and Fabian-and creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Nidia had a radiant smile that could light up any room. She had a deep love for the water and could often be found swimming, a passion she shared with her husband and children during family outings to the beach or pool.
Her greatest joy was her family. Caring for her children was her highest priority, and one of her proudest accomplishments was earning her GED with her children there to witness her achievement. Through her perseverance, she showed them that dreams are never denied only delayed, and that it's never too late to finish what you start.
Nidia gave her life to God and professed Him as her Lord and Savior. On October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, Nidia peacefully took her last breath and went home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her beloved husband Victor; her children Damilet, Victor Jr., and Fabian; her cherished furbaby Zeus; her mother Raquel Mercado; her sisters Clara Hernandez and Marisol Ramis; six nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
Nidia fought the good fight, she finished her race, and she kept the faith. She will be deeply loved and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel. Tributes of a Lifetime Service will begin at 7:00 PM. Graveside Service will be on Saturday, October 18th, 9:30 AM at Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Nidia Alonso nació el 22 de febrero de 1977 en Queens, Nueva York, la menor de tres hijas de Raquel Mercado y Mario Alonso. De bebé, su familia se mudó a Miami, Florida, donde crecería y construiría una vida llena de amor, fe y familia.
A la tierna edad de cuatro años, Nidia conoció a Víctor Mercado durante un viaje a su natal Colombia. Lo que comenzó como una amistad de infancia se convirtió en una historia de amor para toda la vida cuando regresó a Colombia en 1998 con su primogénita y única hija. En mayo de 2000, Nidia y Víctor se casaron, y ella pasó a ser conocida como Nidia Mercado. Juntos, compartieron 25 hermosos años de matrimonio, criando a sus tres hijos: Damilet, Víctor Jr. y Fabián, y creando una vida de recuerdos preciados.
Nidia tenía una sonrisa radiante que iluminaba cualquier habitación. Amaba profundamente el agua y a menudo se la podía encontrar nadando, una pasión que compartía con su esposo e hijos durante las salidas familiares a la playa o la piscina.
Su mayor alegría era su familia. Cuidar de sus hijos era su máxima prioridad, y uno de sus logros más orgullosos fue obtener su GED (Diploma de Educación General) con sus hijos presentes para presenciar su logro. Gracias a su perseverancia, les demostró que los sueños nunca se niegan, solo se posponen, y que nunca es tarde para terminar lo que se empieza.
Nidia entregó su vida a Dios y lo confesó como su Señor y Salvador. El 10 de octubre de 2025, rodeada de sus seres queridos, Nidia exhaló su último aliento en paz y regresó a casa para estar con el Señor.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo Víctor; sus hijos Damilet, Víctor Jr. y Fabián; su querido bebé Zeus; su madre Raquel Mercado; sus hermanas Clara Hernández y Marisol Ramis; seis sobrinos y sobrinas; siete sobrinos y sobrinas nietas; y una gran cantidad de familiares y amigos.
Nidia luchó la buena batalla, terminó su carrera y mantuvo la fe. La recordarán profundamente y con cariño para siempre.
La familia recibirá a sus amigos el viernes 17 de octubre de 2025, de 5:00 PM a 9:00 PM, en la Funeraria Familiar Boyd-Panciera, en la Capilla University Drive. El servicio de homenaje a una vida comenzará a las 7:00 PM. El servicio de entierro será el sábado 18 de octubre a las 9:30 AM en el Cementerio Vista Memorial Gardens.
