Nikita was born Nikita Dimitrivich Karakashev in Moscow, Russia on November 29, 2001. He and his brother Mikhail were adopted in 2004 by Laura and Charles Geissler of Stanton, Minnesota. Nikita attended Prairie Creek elementary school and graduated with the Northfield High School class of 2020.
In his brother, Mikhail's words, " Nikita was the best brother I could wish for. I will miss his stories, laugh, smile, music, charisma, and unwavering support in my own life."
Nikita leaves behind family who he knew loved him deeply. Parents, Charles and Laura Geissler, brother Mikhail, grandparents, Henry and Janice Geissler of Webster, MN, Paul & Terry Reichardt of Fairbanks, AK, grand uncle Allen Reichardt of Northfield, MN. Aunt and uncles Kris Geissler, Julie (Eric) Lindmark, Rebecca (David) Vano and Dan (Amber) Reichardt and cousins. Nikita is survived by his Russian family: brother Sergei, aunt Olya, grandmother, cousins and half siblings. Nikita was preceded in death by his birth mother, Irina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nikita Geissler Memorial Fund at Hot Spot music, which will fund programming focused on music and mental health: www.hotspotmusic.org.
Those who knew Nikita are invited to a remembrance gathering at Hot Spot music on Friday, October 3 starting at 6 PM to tell stories through conversation and music.
A celebration of life service will be held at Emmaus Church in Northfield on Saturday, October 4, with visitation at 1 PM and a service at 2 PM.
