Obituary For Gerard Geissler

Gerard "Jerry" Geissler, 71, of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. Born in Brooklyn on July 14, 1954, Jerry lived a vibrant and fulfilled life centered around family, friendship, and his passions. A proud graduate of New Dorp High School, Jerry pursued his lifelong love of food at the Culinary Institute of Arts. He went on to have a distinguished career as a chef and butcher, delighting countless friends and family members with his culinary masterpieces. Always happiest in the kitchen, Jerry was known for the way he gathered people around the table and filled his home with laughter and delicious aromas. In 2015, Jerry married the love of his life, Danielle Solomon. Their romantic dinners, adventurous travels-especially to their beloved Jamaica-and shared devotion to their dogs Loki and Jackson, were the highlights of his life. Jerry was a loving husband and a steadfast stepfather to Michael Solomon, forming a bond that brought him endless pride and joy. Jerry's sense of humor was as renowned as his cooking. Quick with a joke and a welcoming smile, he thrived on meeting new people and celebrating what life had to offer. A dedicated sports fan, he cheered on his Chicago Bears, New York Yankees, and college teams with unbridled enthusiasm. Jerry is survived by his cherished wife Danielle, his son Michael, his sisters Mary Devine and Kathleen McDonald, and his brother Harold Geissler. He was preceded in death by his father Gerard Geissler Sr., mother Catherine, sister Geraldine, and brother Thomas. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry's life at Hanley Funeral Home: Tuesday, September 2nd, visitation 4–8pm; Wednesday, September 3rd, morning Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 9:30am; private cremation to follow. Jerry always said, "It's far from your ass, you won't sit on it," "You snooze, you lose," and, with a grin, "Mucho Mucho." His warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
