Nila Marie Olmstead

Nila Marie (Yokum) Olmstead, 79, of Baldwin City, KS died Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.
She was born September 28, 1944 in Ottawa, KS the daughter of Winston Churchill Yokum and Mary Grace (Brown) Yokum. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1962.
On December 7, 1963, Nila was united in marriage to Gary Olmstead. They later divorced.
Nila worked as a manager of K-Mart until her retirement in 1992. After retiring, she worked as an office admin for Meta. She was also a member of the Baldwin BPW for over 30 years, serving as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Nila was a crafter, especially with knitting and macramé. She also enjoyed photography. She was a gardener, and was known for planting flowers like irises, tulips, daffodils, and peonies. Nila also loved her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Mary Yokum and two brothers, Marvin Yokum and James "Jim" Yokum
She is survived by two daughters, LeeAndrea Olmstead of Overland Park, KS and Bridget Adamson and her husband, David, of Newnan, GA; a son, Chad Olmstead of Hays, KS; a sister, Janice Yokum of Olathe, KS; four grandsons, Logan Olmstead and his wife, Madison, of Bartlesville, OK, Kolby Olmstead of Hays, KS, Geovanni Adamson of Newnan, GA, and Tyson Adamson of Newnan, GA; a granddaughter, Morgan Olmstead of Manhattan, KS; one great-grandson, Louis Olmstead of Bartlesville, OK and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Yokum of Ottawa, KS.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Baldwin City, KS. To celebrate Nila's life, a visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 712 Ninth St, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
