Michael P. Olmstead, 72, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in his home. Michael was born on March 27, 1953, in South Bend to David and Muriel (Boggs) Olmstead. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathleen Quick; and his brothers, David Olmstead, William Olmstead, and Thomas Olmstead.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Olmstead; daughters, Tonya Annis, Misty (Zac) Caenepeel;, and Christy (Matt) Browning; son, Lonny (Michelle) Annis; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and sister, Susan Olmstead.
Michael worked for the Notre Dame Power Plant. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed golfing. Michael served in the Navy for 4 years on board the USS Horne. He was an active member of his church, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Affectionately known as "Pa", Michael was deeply involved with his grandchildren and left a lasting impact on many young people he met throughout his life. He had a calm, steady presence with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM -1:00 PM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S 29th Street, South Bend, with funeral services at 1:00 PM in the church. A burial ceremony will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S 29th Street, South Bend, IN 46615.
