Nils Torbjörn Ericsson - LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, SON, BROTHER AND FRIEND
Tobbe would like to let you know that his work here is done, saying 'adjö, adjö, farväl', from our forever home, surrounded by his Swedish and American family and friends. He received a call from the Holy Spirit, a sort of offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family, friends and favorite pets he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will travel the world from above on a cloud of paradise itself, playing golf, tennis, bandy (better known as hockey in the USA), scuba diving and relishing in all the wonder of history to his heart's content. Music, laughter, love and maybe a little snaps are guaranteed. No more gardening or reaching for things because you're 'too tall Tobbe' and killing the creepy crawlies. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. He left detailed instructions for his wife, Robynn Ericsson and two children, Alexander Hague (21) and Nils Matthew (19), to celebrate his mission on earth, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated as he has become a force with the Holy Trinity.
Tobbe grew up in a small village in the middle-south of Sweden. He was given great freedom in his upbringing, practicing sports, studying a lot of history which was a favorite subject, pioneering in home computers and playing role playing games. From early in life he was a guy who created his own path, who walked his own way and did not need any help to go further. Tobbe had a lot of integrity and quite a temper during his upbringing so no one at home dared confront him when he wanted to be left alone. He was a very good student in school, answering all the teachers' questions even if he was not asked the question.
He was never afraid of charging into new situations, helping to solve problems, contacting new people and always with big curiosity.
Shortly after moving to the USA in 1996 for work, he met Robynn, whom he married in 2000 in his viking land of Sweden, where they set one's heart on joining the two heritages with great bachelor and bachelorette celebrations in Stockholm, a beautiful ceremony in a 12th century church over the lake and a celebration at a countryside manor home, Yxtaholm's Slott. A world collided amongst our families; Tobbe's parents; Nils-Åke and Marianne Ericsson, brothers, Ulf Ericsson and Ulrika Lind Ericsson (Jonathan, Klara, and Måns), Magnus Ericsson and Anna Bågenholm (Rasmus and Oliver). Robynn's parents; Bryce and Linda Ritter and Bill and Anne Farnen, brothers, Graham Ritter and Sara Young (Blake, Cameron and Gavin), Bryan and Melodye Ritter (Max, Marisa and baby Isla Jane).
Tobbe was a devoted and passionate family man, cherishing his two boys, supporting them as a hockey coach on two teams their entire lives, travel soccer, lacrosse and golf. He provided early Lutheran school for both, a Catholic education for Alex's high school and current college education at Miami University Ohio, and all of Nils' ongoing interests in cars, photography and current college at Grand Valley State University.
We want to let him know that he did an extraordinary job and wish him a safe journey armored with the chest plate of faithfulness and the helmet of righteousness. He is travelling by the speed of light bound by the wings of angels (which could be Red) to the holy kingdom, the most sacred of destinations, not included on Delta stops. We will remember his smile, his warmth, his energy, his love for life, wife, children, family and friends, but also team players, colleagues and clients, many of whom over time also became friends. He worked very hard all his life, up until the very end. He made a difference in the lives of many and was a great mentor to all.
He had a love affair with the blue waters of Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and all golf courses in between. Graduated from Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden with a Master's in Computer Engineering. Not only was he deeply connected to his country, he played a significant part in The Swedish Club of Southeastern Michigan.
Tobbe and Robynn celebrated 25 years of marriage and have come together from around the world to share these treasured moments to celebrate Tobbe's life. Let the memory of Tobbe be engraved upon our hearts and minds.
We invite you to join us in honoring a brave and courageous warrior.
