Kenneth Paul Bondy

Kenneth Paul Bondy of Beverly Hills, Michigan, passed away early on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the age of 101.

Born in October 1924 in Detroit to Mark and Stella Bondy, Ken was the fourth of six children. He fondly recalled his childhood growing up in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Ken was called into the service of his country in the second World War only two months after he turned 18 and served as the navigator on a B24 Liberator ("The Uninvited"), attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was awarded the Air Medal, Distinguished Service Order, and the Air Combat Over Europe medals.

He attended the University of Detroit thanks to the GI Bill and started his career with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan upon graduation in 1947. He would work for them for over forty years, retiring in 1987.

Ken met his wife Jeanne at a church dance in 1948. They married in 1949 and were married for over 45 years until her death in 1995. Ken and Jeanne moved to Beverly Hills in 1961, where they raised their two daughters, Barbara and Beth.

Ken could frequently be spotted on his bicycle (eventually a three-wheeler complete with "Uninvited" license plate) riding all around the village, to the Beverly Hills Athletic Club, or the Dairy Deluxe. Ken cherished his family, and all of his family members have fond memories of him. He was a larger than life person and will leave a larger than life hole in his wake.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne Bondy, Ken is survived by his two daughters, Barbara and Beth, Beth's husband Mike and their children, Anne and Laura, Laura's husband Mike, and their children, Amelia and Emma.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 11AM, until the Memorial Service with military honors at 3PM, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073.
