Nilsa Perez, a beacon of warmth and generosity, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 13, 1960, in Moca, Puerto Rico, to the late Wilfredo and Angelina Perez, Nilsa's vibrant spirit and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Nilsa, affectionately known by those close to her simply as Nilsa, carried the essence of her Puerto Rican heritage throughout her life. After moving to the United States post her 3rd-grade year, she embraced a new chapter filled with opportunities and challenges. Though she did not return to formal education, Nilsa's wisdom and knowledge extended far beyond the walls of any classroom.
Nilsa was a devoted mother, whose life was brightened by the birth of her three sons. Omar Gonzalez, her eldest, blessed her with a daughter-in-law, Ginger, in the sunny state of Florida. Fernando Perez, together with his wife Luz, settled in Salem, New Hampshire, and her youngest, Edgar Torres, made his home in Boston. Each of her sons was a testament to her unwavering love and the light of her life. Nilsa dedicated herself to nurturing and providing for her children, creating a home filled with love and laughter.
Nilsa's love extended to her siblings, leaving behind cherished memories with Nereida Nieves, Gloria Nieves, Linette Perez, Manuel Perez, Jose Feliciano, Blanca Perez, and Janet Perez. She also held a special place in her heart for her late siblings, Aida Nieves and Alfredo Nieves. As a loving "Mama" to Nylah Rose, Kailee, and Alexandra (Perez), her joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, who will forever treasure her legacy.
Her passion for life was evident in her love for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, with her famous Lasagna or Red Beans with rice and Chicken becoming staples at every family gathering. Family-oriented to the core, Nilsa relished cookouts and holidays, occasions that allowed her to express her love through the food she prepared with such care and skill.
Known for her kindness and friendliness, Nilsa was the embodiment of hospitality. She would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought, always looking out for everyone else. Her giving nature was matched only by her love for Puerto Rican Coffee, a simple pleasure that she savored deeply.
Nilsa's presence was a comfort to many, whether they were family, friends, or someone in need. Her frequent travels to Florida were filled with joyous reunions and the creation of lasting memories. If anyone desired or required anything, Nilsa was there without hesitation, ready to give of herself.
Today, we remember Nilsa as a loving, friendly, and kind soul, whose impact on the world was as profound as it was gentle. Her legacy of love, selflessness, and familial devotion will continue to resonate through the generations. Nilsa Perez will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of the many who were privileged to know her.
