August 21 1937 - May 24 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Nony, who left this life suddenly on May 24, 2025 at the age of 87. She was surrounded by her loving family-including all of her children and grandchildren.
Born on August 21, 1937 to her parents Meryl and Raymond Karrick in Carlinville, Illinois. Nony lived boldly, laughed loudly and loved fiercely. She was a woman of spirit and strength, the matriarch of our family and the keeper of tradition and truth. She had a long and beautiful life. She traveled the world including Europe and Asia. She lived in Hong Kong and Berlin, Germany She spoke German and some Cantonese...She skied the alps...Paid homage to The Vatican in Italy. Her home was always filled with music including old classic Rock and Roll and modern Heavy Metal along with Soul Music and Rhythm and Blues.
Nony had a deep devotion and loved her little dogs who returned her affections happily and with great loyalty. But just as deep as her affection was the height of her standards. She believed in family, in order and doing things in the right way. She was known for her firm but fair rules, which shaped generations and kept us all grounded in what truly matters- respect, love and honesty. She was a mother first but had several jobs throughout her life and enjoyed many things including writing and gardening.
She kept a life time of journals and also wrote a column in the Bridgton newspaper in Maine for years. She was also a real estate agent in Massachusetts and a dress designer. She loved fashion and was always ahead of her time.
She is survived by her five children: Elizabeth Mayling O'Hara, William Christine Durkin, Berlin Serghj Matthews, Eben Nicholas Francis Williams and Bianca Ann Nichols Kovacs Nelson. Her thirteen grandchildren Hunter, Karrick and Brogan Lee, Tristen, Alan Thomas, Jordan, Stevie Ann Jacinto and Huckleberry McKenzie Durkin, Logan and Blake Matthews, Abbigale Niomi May Karrick, Annabelle and Alexzander Kovacs. And her 9 great grandchildren Julien Panagrosso, Isabelle Spencer, William, Lily-Ann, and Jeremiah Jacinto, Luna, Juniper and Oynx Sierra and Brooks Lee. And a legacy of strength, laughter and stories that will live on forever. She is also survived by her stepbrother Edward Hannan of Ohio and her beloved little dog Tula, who never left her side.
