Robert Richard Kaminski ObituaryRobert Richard "Bob" Kaminski
Beloved husband, father and grandfather
It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" Kaminski, age 84, of
Litchfield, shares the heartbreaking news of his unexpected passing on Christmas eve,
December 24, 2024, at the Hartford Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of
Kathleen Dolan Kaminski, father of Robert J. Kaminski, and Laura Dubourg (Jacob),
and grandfather to Adrian, Athena and Julian.
Bob was born on July 30, 1940 in Salem, Massachusetts and everyone who knew him
would attest to his being the very embodiment of the Christmas spirit. He was
consistently upbeat, always had a ready smile and was loved and admired by everyone
who was lucky enough to come his way.
A retired college administrator from the Naugatuck Valley Community College and
retired Director of Counseling and Dean of Students of St. Paul Catholic High School,
Bob achieved a distinguished career in education and masterfully guided many young
people through their overwhelming journeys of finding their own career paths.
His commitment to the communities where he resided and his strong sense of civic duty
were evident through his active participation in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Knights of
Columbus Council 56, Blue and Gold Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy, the
Watertown Board of Education, the St. Paul Catholic Board of Education, and as a
Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia. He also served as a Penalty Box Attendant for the
Hartford Whalers and was a member of the BoSox Club in Boston, MA.
Bob was an inspiring example to his family and friends: he grasped life with great
enthusiasm; was an avid Boston sports fan and was an especially staunch advocate of
the Red Sox. He had a quick and ready sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. In
addition, his moral values, sense of ethics and fairness were impeccable. And yet he
understood and had great compassion for those who did not share his code because
he was also kind and caring.
He will be lovingly remembered for all of that and also for the way he touched all who
knew him with his special warmth and grace.
Our family thanks him for everything he did for us, for always putting us first and for his
unconditional support every step of the way. His love for us was unending as is ours for
him.
In addition to Kathe, his wife of 53 years, his children and grandchildren, Bob's legacy
will be cherished by his brothers-in law James (Helen) Dolan, John (Karen) Dolan;
nephews: Rev. Michael Dolan, James C. Dolan; nieces Kathryn Kaminski, Karyn (Jeff)
Kaminski, Alanna Dolan and Heather Dolan. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents,
Bernard and Marion Kaminski, brother, Bernard Kaminski, sister-in-law, Gloria Kaminski
and nephew, John A. Dolan.
Funeral services will be held at a Celebration Mass on Saturday, January 4th at 10:30
am at St. Anthony of Padua Church in
Litchfield, CT. Relatives and friends are invited
to visit with the Kaminski family on Friday, January 3rd from 5-7 pm at the Thurston
Rowe Funeral Home in
Litchfield, CT.
Donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic High School Scholarship Fund in Bristol,
CT and
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
