Nix Cook Jr, age 94, passed away at his home on May 6, 2025 surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 10 from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Monday May 12 at 11:00 AM at Faith Deliverance Community Church 5501 US- 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery of Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene, Texas.
Nix was born in Montgomery, Alabama December 28,1930. He was very proud to be a Korean War Veteran. He was an Elder and a devoted member of the Faith Deliverance Community Church. He was known for his gorgeous smile and a great head of beautiful hair. He loved to learn and was always doing research. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing his harmonica.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Janet Cook, his grandson Victor Hirst II and 5 siblings.
Nix is survived by his children, Deborah Olow and husband Eugene, Vernon Cook and wife Lareyna, Cindy Norwood and husband Jim and his honorary daughters Laura West, Era Hamilton and husband John; He has been blessed with 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
