Nola Van Beek, 65 of Marion, passed away on February 2, 2025 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, February 14, 2025 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.
Nola Jean VanBeek was born on September 29, 1959, in Freeman, SD to Luverne and Ines (Dreyer) Herlyn. She was the youngest of 5 children, following Darrell, Dorian, Lowell, and Loren. Nola had lived her entire life in the Marion area, graduating from Marion High School in 1977 and attended Nettleton Business College where she received her Associates Degree in Business. She worked as a bookkeeper for Laboratory of Clinical Medicine (LCM) and the Freeman Hospital, retiring in 2010.
On January 6, 1978 Nola was united in marriage to Ronald VanBeek at the Calvary Reformed Church in Monroe. To this union they had 3 daughters Brandy, Barby, and Tara. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nola was a very active member at Calvary Reformed Church where she was the bookkeeper and taught Sunday school and Wednesday Night Youth Group.
Nola will be missed. She is survived by her husband Ron of Marion, daughters Brandy (Stan) Byl of Alton, IA, and Tara (Curtis) Kramer of Parker, CO.; grandchildren Blake and Brooklyn Byl, Taylir, Cadence, Liam, Knox Kramer; siblings Dorian Miller of Port Lavaca, TX; Lowell (Cindy) Herlyn of Marion, SD; Loren (Debbie) Herlyn of Billings, MT; nieces, nephews, and friends. Nola was preceded in death by her parents Luverne and Ines Herlyn, daughter Barby Lee VanBeek, and brother Darrell Herlyn.
