It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Nora Marie (Walker) Alsager, of
Red Lodge, Montana, who passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the age of 79.
Nora was born in
Seattle, Washington, and was the only child of Thomas G. Walker and Mary C. (Mullin) Walker. Growing up, Nora spent a great deal of time with her favorite cousin, C. Richard (Dick) Ellis, whom she considered a brother. He later became a Jesuit priest before eventually leaving the priesthood to pursue other paths. She graduated from Holy Names Academy and attended Seattle University. Nora began her career in telecommunications with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company in Washington State, eventually retiring from Lucent Technologies as a Change Management Consultant, where she assisted with mergers and other business transitions in Denver, Colorado. During the 1960s, Nora was a free-spirited soul who traveled widely, working and embracing life. Most notably, she lived in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, spending time at a well-known purple Victorian on Ashbury Street with members of the Grateful Dead and other notable figures of that era. In the mid-1980s, while vacationing in Lahaina on the island of Maui, Nora met the love of her life, David Alsager. David was living aboard a sailboat and working odd jobs around town. After Nora returned to Seattle, the two stayed in touch through letters and phone calls. Eventually, David moved to Seattle, where they built a deep and enduring relationship rooted in love, friendship, and mutual respect. They married on August 18, 1990, and what a joyful day it was! Their wedding, and especially the lively reception, was filled with the laughter and love of dear friends and family, who enjoyed delicious food, great music, and cherished moments of happy companionship. In 1991, they relocated to Denver to pursue Nora's career opportunities and made their home there for nearly a decade. Nora retired in 2000, and they moved to the beautiful town of
Red Lodge, Montana, embracing a new chapter in the mountains. Nora had a deep love for gardening, cooking, photography, and staying actively involved in her community. In Seattle, she generously volunteered with various local charities, and after moving to Red Lodge, she continued giving her time and energy to help plan and organize the town's Festivals of Nations with enthusiasm and care. A natural social butterfly, Nora cherished connecting with friends and family. She especially enjoyed gathering at the Snag Bar in downtown Red Lodge, where good conversation, laughter, and shared stories always flowed freely. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary, and her cousin, Dick Ellis. Nora is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, David Alsager; her sons, Jay and his wife Jodie of Oklahoma City, and Dan and his wife Cicely of North Bend, Washington; her four wonderful grandchildren, Kiersten, Quincy, Maisie, and Jack; and her great-grandchild, Loyal all of whom brought her immense joy. True to her proud Irish heritage and her deep love for friends and family, a lively celebration of Nora's life will be held at her favorite gathering spot, the Snag Bar in downtown
Red Lodge, Montana, on March 17, 2026-St. Patrick's Day! Starting at 1:00 p.m., join us to honor Nora with good food, lively music, plenty of companionship, and heartfelt stories as we share memories and raise a glass to her wonderful life.
