Norbert H Cannon, age 83, died peacefully on February 5, 2023 of a heart condition. Norbert was born on March 25, 1939 at Midway Hospital, in Saint Paul, MN to Thomas and Lois Cannon. He attended Nativity School and church and later graduated from Central High School where he met his soon to be wife of 54 years, Janice Holland. After the wedding, he served in the military for 4 years. Together they raised 4 children and lived most of their lives in Minnesota.
Norbert started his career at Honeywell but most of his professional career took place at Medtronics where he started as an electronic technician and after completing a 4-year degree at The U of M he became an engineer. He was proud of his accomplishments there.
Norb and Norby were the names he went by. He enjoyed golfing, camping, some travel and weekends at the cabin, often spending hours on the lake pulling young water-skiers and snorkeling for lost parts to his sailboat as rookies capsized it many times. You know who you are. HaHa. Many friends and relatives spent time together at the cabin. After retiring, he and Janice spent many years wintering in Florida. He always had a camera or video recording to document fun and important times.
Norb was preceded in death by his wife Janice, son Donald, daughter Wendy Goers and brother Larry. He is survived by daughter Heather Porter (Tom), son John Cannon (Neftali), son in-law Matt Goers, a sister and a brother, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other close relatives and friends. Sincere gratitude goes out to Joan his special lady friend, companion, and caregiver whom he loved and adored.
A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
