Norbert Anthony Hintz passed away peacefully at his home on Sun, Dec 21, 2025. He was born August 12, 1940, to Anthony and Doris (Studebaker) Hintz. He was an Anthony Wayne graduate. He served in the US Army as a Diesel Engine Repairman from 1959 - 1961, serving in Kaiserslautern Germany.
Over the years, Norbert held multiple jobs at a time—not because he had to, but because he could not sit still. He was a heavy equipment operator for Panhandle Pipeline prior to his retirement in the 1990s.
He met Connie (Ankney) and they married May 18, 1985. Together they celebrated 40 years of marriage. In 1987, their only daughter, Stephanie, was born. Norbert took enormous pride in the home they created at "Breezy Acres", named after Stephanie's first horse. He spent all his time constructing and maintaining the property and taking care of the horses. He took pride in planting trees and mowing his grass often too much. He never missed a horse show or opportunity to spend time with Steph. He spent hours "tinkering" in his garage, whether it was on his antique cars in the past or constructing furniture pieces for Connie or Stephanie. If Connie had an idea, Bert would make it happen. His last project was creating wall ribbon hangers for the grandkids.
For the past decade, Norbert's greatest accomplishment was being able to be called "Popi" by Olivia Louise and Michael Anthony. The bond between them and the countless hours they spent together are priceless. He rocked them, held them, had hours of play dough creations, and taught the kids to play cards—Rummy and Crazy 8s were their favorites. He took his preschool drop offs with pride and enjoyed that special one-on-one time with each of them. He taught them to drive the golf cart, spent time watching them fish and play in the pond, and, of course, watched hours of Westerns together.
Norbert is survived by his wife, Connie, daughter Stephanie (Tony) Violi, and grandchildren, Olivia and Michael. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Anthony and Doris Hintz, and his sister, Emma.
