JONESBORO - Norma Boyd, 81, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. She was born on Jan. 22, 1945, in Augusta. Norma moved with her family to Jonesboro at the age of five. On Dec. 9, 1966, she married the love of her life, Jerome Boyd, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 60 wonderful years. After their marriage, Norma moved to Cash, where she raised her family. On July 4, 2011, she and Jerome returned to Jonesboro, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Norma worked as a bookkeeper for several years before dedicating herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother. She was a member of the Brookland church of Christ and loved to fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was also a long-time member of the Extension Homemakers Club and the Farm Bureau Women's Committee, where she enjoyed being involved in many community projects and forming lasting friendships. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and other activities.
Above all, Norma was devoted to her family. She was known for her caring heart and willingness to help anyone. Her smile, kindness, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome; her son, Paul Boyd, and his wife, Amber; her daughter, Natalie Ayers, and her husband, Chris; her granddaughter, Sydney Ward, along with her brother, Kenneth Hopkins, and sister, Linda Porter, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Annie Lou Hopkins; her brother, Thurman Hopkins; her sister, Carolyn Shivley; and her grandson, Noah Boyd.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 8, in Emerson Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 9, in Emerson Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m., with Brother Jeff Heitman officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
