On Tuesday, April 8, 2025 Norma Jean Cacchillo sadly passed away, she will be sorely missed. She was born in New Britain, CT, on May 2, 1932 to Arthur J. and Anna M. Cacchillo. Norma graduated from New Britain High School, Class of 1950 and received an Associate's Degree from Central CT State College. Norma worked for the City of New Britain in the Assessor's Office for many years. In addition, she volunteered on Election Day and with the Race in the Park, taught quilting, and was a longtime member of a local quilting club. She made numerous beautiful hand-crafted items, many of which are still cherished by her loved ones today.
Norma was a devout member of St. Jerome Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and over the years had made hundreds of pastries for bake sales at the church. Norma enjoyed traveling to Canada, Italy & Ireland as well as Hilton Head, SC for quilting seminars. Norma was an avid UCONN Women's basketball season ticketholder who had been able to attend several Final Four games over the years.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother Arthur, nephew Geoffrey Bessoni, grandnephew Jason Bessoni, and brother-in-law Robert Carson. Norma will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Lois Carson of Waterford, nephews, George Bessoni of Old Saybrook, Gary Bessoni (Debbie) of Utah, Glenn Bessoni (Sharon) of Southington, nieces, Brenda, Bonnie and Ashley, nephews, Kyle, Daniel, and Michael, great-nephew, August, great-nieces, Miley and Macayla, dear friends, Diane and Jeannie and also several first cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (April 12, 2025) 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. Calling hours are Saturday morning 9 to 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Please share a memory or note of sympathy at www.carlsonfuneralhome.com
