Norma Colson Obituary

Norma Lee Colson passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on August 25, 1929, in Frankclay, Missouri, to the late Arthur Levi and Irene (Aldrich) Aslinger.

Norma is survived by her children, Lee Gentile (Frank), Susan Freund, Beth Wade (Greg), and Jill Colson (Steve Walters); grandchildren, Matthew Freund (Lauren), Marcus Wade (Molly), Alex Freund (Chelsey), Rachel Colson, Andrea Wade, Luke Freund, Lang Gentile, Alison Wade-Hibbard (Dave); seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of family and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David L. Colson; her son, Craig Colson; grandson, Dominic Gentile; granddaughter, Anne Colson; siblings, Jack Aslinger, Dorothy Dalton, and Rose Mary Brown.

Norma attended and graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia and received her master’s in education from Southeast Missouri State University. She was instrumental in bringing the special education department to the Farmington school district where she taught for over 32 years.

She loved antiques, golfing, flower gardening, church activities, reading, cooking and traveling with her husband David. She took great pride in Mercantile Antiques that she owned and operated for many years. Norma’s biggest accomplishment was seeing all her children graduate from college and being the first teacher to wear pantsuits in class.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel.
