Norma Dees Vaughn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Dec. 24, 2025.
Norma Jean Dees Vaughn, affectionately known as Norma, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on November 24, 2025, in Paris, Kentucky. Born on June 22, 1932, in the quaint town of Mt. Vernon, KY, Norma matured into a woman of deep faith and compassionate spirit; characteristics that she carried throughout her entire life journey.
Her dedication to family was unwavering. Norma was a loving mother to her two sons, John (Carol) Vaughn, Jr. and William Vaughn, and a doting grandmother to John Vaughn III. She cherished her relationships with her half-siblings, Coy (Beverly) Bullock and Mary Rogers and a very special friend, Donna McCord, who survive her. Her life was predicated on the foundation of family values, a testament to her late husband, John Stanley Vaughn, a union that reflected unwavering love and mutual respect. Norma was predeceased by her parents William Louis Dees and Ida Spoonamore Dees, as well as three brothers, one sister, and three half-brothers, whom she remembered fondly and held close in her heart.
A homemaker by choice and vocation, Norma's home was a haven of warmth, filled with love. She built a legacy of tenderness and care within the walls of the Vaughn household, a legacy that will continue to inspire her family and friends for years to come.
An individual of profound faith, Norma was a longtime member of the Ruddles Mills Christian Church. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her active participation, and she found great joy in going to church, engaging in Bible studies, and contributing her talents to the Vacation Bible School. She was a beacon of light to the congregants, always ready to offer support or serve her community in any way needed.
Norma had a passion for creation, whether it was crafting handmade treasures or cultivating the minds of the young during Vacation Bible School. She also found solace in the pages of a good book and valued the precious moments spent with her family above all else.
She will be remembered as a kind and faith-filled woman, whose gentle demeanor and strength of spirit were evident to all who knew her. Norma Jean Dees Vaughn lived a life that beautifully reflected her beliefs, and she will be dearly missed by many. Her memory will continue to shine brightly, illuminating the lives of those she touched with her kindness and with the love she had for her family and her Lord. Her spirit remains a guiding light to us all, prompting us to live life fully with love and kindness at the forefront of everything we do.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday December 29, 2025, by Bro. John McGuire at the Ruddles Mills Chirstian Church, 3804 Millersburg-Ruddles Mills Rd., Paris, KY. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Garden, Paris, KY. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Monday December 29, 2025, until the hour of service at the church.
