She later retired from the food service industry at the age of 69 years and later retired in 2009.

Norma was great at baking, and was a hair stylist for some years and she loved car travels out west with Larry Sr. But her favorite pastime by far was crocheting. She has knitted numerous colorful and beautiful afghan blankets and throws for all the kids and grandkids and was working on more for the great grandchildren. Even with her severe arthritis, it never stopped her a single time, she always finished what she started and some of the afghans have lasted for over 30-years.

She was a member of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple for decades there she had many friends and family.
