Norma Ilene Grotjan

Norma Ilene (Martin) Grotjan, 92, formerly of Mendon, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at her home in Independence, MO. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Mendon Cemetery in Mendon, MO. Reverend Lanny Lybarger will officiate the service.
Norma was born on April 23, 1933 in Cunningham, MO, near Sumner in Chariton County, MO to Walter Reed and Effie Isabelle (Richardson) Martin. She attended Brookfield Junior and Senior High School in Brookfield, MO.
On June 9, 1951, Norma married Raymond Fay Grotjan, in Kansas City, MO. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Ilene Faye and Sharon Rae. After 69 years of marriage, Raymond preceded Norma in passing on October 28, 2020.
Norma was a member of the Mendon Christian Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #7 of Brunswick. She was a homemaker, a loving neighbor, and active in the Mendon community affairs.
Norma is survived by her two daughters, Ilene Faye Orlovick (husband, Bruce) and Sharon Rae Grotjan of Independence, MO; two grandchildren, Sarah Eck (husband, Steve) of Dallas Texas, and Matthew Orlovick of Washington, D.C., and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Bennett Eck. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, Walter and Effie; one sister, Phyllis Westfall; and two brothers, Kenneth Martin and Charles C. Martin.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Bell, Bruce Orlovick, Matthew Orlovick, Steve Eck, and Steve Barnett.
