Norma Lee Higginbotham Istre

IOTA- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Normal Lee Higginbotham Istre announces her passing on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette at the age of 78. On Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, a visitation will take place at 10:00 am, with a Rosary being prayed at 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Iota Cemetery with Father Mitch Guidry, Celebrant.

Norma was born on November 26, 1946, to the late Lloyd and Verna Richard Higginbotham in Jennings, La. She lived a simple life and enjoyed cooking. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, La.

Norman will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, of thirty-three years, Fritz Istre of Iota; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Gotte and husband, Floyd, and Cynthia Leckelt, all of Iota; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Kenneth Higginbotham.
