Norma Kipnis Wilson was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928. When she was 14, her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she later met and married Jerry Kipnis, of blessed memory. After having 5 children together, they moved to Miami Beach in 1960 and set up home. They were married for 27 years.
Norma was a ceramicist and potter, turning to activism in the late 1960's. She dedicated her life to philanthropy and community. She co-founded the Lion of Judah in 1972. She was the first woman on the University of Miami Board and the first woman member at the Standard business club. She served on the Advisory Board of the Sylvester Cancer Institute Foundation and on the Board of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Foundation. She was the co-founder of the Rape Treatment Center at Jackson. She was on the Board of Americans for Immigrant Justice. She was a life member of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Foundation Board and was currently serving on the Memorial Hospital Board. She received many community service awards too numerous to mention.
Norma was blessed with 2 great loves, meeting and marrying Allan Wilson, of Blessed Memory, in her mid-life. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage, family, travel and love.
Norma had a passion for finance and was a stock market guru. She loved art and culture, her children, grandchildren, and her friends. She was always culturally current, intelligent and engaged. She continues her philanthropy as an Endowed Lion. Norma loved life. She was very special person. She was one-of-a-kind.

Norma will always be in my thoughts. She gave me wise advice and I admired her in everyway. She is greatly missed .

Norma became my best friend after meeting at Chautauqua Institution 31 years ago. She and Allan loved to spend their summers at Chautauqua and I was blessed by their presence. Norma had a warm sophistication coupled with a deep appreciation of life.
Norma will be deeply missed.
