Norma Jean Martin

Norma Jean (Wells) Martin, 76, of Mount Hope, WV passed into eternal life on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Norma passed peacefully at Bowers Hospice House with her family at her bedside. Born September 22, 1947, to the late Ralph and Wandalene Wells.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, Mamaw, homemaker, and fierce prayer warrior. She is survived by three daughters, Terry Lynn Bower and husband Michael, Delisa Jean Pike and husband Timmy, and Carla Mae Thompson and husband Len, all of Mount Hope, WV; one son, her "Baby Boy" Curtiss William Martin, Jr. and wife Jessica of Middlebourne, WV. She will be forever cherished by her nine grandchildren, Robert Bower and his wife Candace of TX, Joshua Bower and his wife Kaitlyn of MI, Christina Smethurst and her husband Brandon of VA, Cheryl Murray and Josh of VA, Timothy Pike, Jr. and Shelia of Mount Hope, WV, Joshua Pike of Beckley, WV, Christopher Thompson and his wife Courtney of Bradley, WV, Collins Whitley Martin of Middlebourne, WV, and Ledger Curtiss Martin of Middlebourne, WV; great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Maximus Bower of TX, Preston, Korey, Kobe, and Brandon Smethurst of VA, Kolton and Benjamin Pike of Beckley, WV, and Beniah Thompson of Bradley, WV; three brothers, Ralph Wells and his wife Sylvia of Port Orange, FL, Richard Wells and his wife Cyndy of Scranton, PA, and Steven Wells and his wife Yvonne of Germany; as well as her church family, a host of friends, and extended family.

Those who knew Norma were truly blessed by her presence and love. She made everyone feel like family and loved each child she met just like one of her own grandchildren. When Norma was in a room you couldn't help but feel the love of Jesus radiating through her. Norma was preceded in death by the love of her life and soulmate, Curtiss William Martin; her parents, Ralph and Wandalene Wells; and her sister, Rebecca Sue Altice.

Visitation with the family will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Service will be to follow with Pastor "Preacher" Fred Lovell officiating and Pastor Dwayne Williams reading the obituary. The burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge Road in Oak Hill. Pallbearers will be Curtiss Martin Jr., Robert Bower, Joshua Bower, Brandon Smethurst, Christopher Thompson, and Jeremiah Perdue. There will be a dinner at the Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Church following the graveside.
