Norma Watson Melton, 70, of Homerville passed away Thursday morning, June 8, 2023. She was born in Laurel, MS to the late David Levan Watson, Sr. and Lessie Mae McDaniel Watson. Mrs. Melton was a 1970 graduate of Clinch County High School. She was a LPN and worked in Healthcare for many years. After retiring from nursing, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Clinch Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Melton was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and attended Fargo Evangelistic Church. She was well known for caring for others. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved everyone she knew and never ended a conversation without saying "I Love You".
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one son, David Milton Smith; four sisters, Donyce Faye Watson, Margaret Ann Watson, Bertha Foster, and Bettye Berryman; one brother, Jimmy Watson.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Virgil Melton, Jr. of Homerville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cary and Erika Kight, Travis and Holly Kight, Justin and Brittany Smith all of Homerville; six grandchildren, Tate (wife Brianna) Kight, Cara Kight (fiancé Dylan Johnson), Callan Kight, Livy Kate Kight, Emmy Belle Kight, and David Smith; two step-sons, John Melton (Natasha) of Fargo, Israel Melton (Sherry) of Tifton; seven step-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Dousay of Bentley, LA and Brenda Barton (Jerry) of Bentley, LA; one brother, David Watson of Fargo; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning, June 16, 2023, at 11 am at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Trinity Baptist Church.
