Norma Rodgers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 28, 2026.
Norma Agnes (Brincks) Rodgers passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her devoted heart, and the deep pride she took in those she loved most.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial to take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Norma was born in New Hampton, Iowa, the oldest of nine children born to Agnes and Guido Brincks. From an early age, she carried a sense of responsibility and care for others that remained with her throughout her life. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1971, beginning a lifelong pattern of hard work and dedication.

Norma spent many years as a trusted and valued employee of Hy-Vee, working in Charles City, Boone, and Des Moines. It was while working at Hy-Vee in Boone that she met the love of her life, Kevin Rodgers. The two relocated to Des Moines and were married on February 14, 1991, a Valentine's Day union that reflected the love they shared. Norma later continued her career serving others at Wesley Acres and Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Above all else, family was Norma's greatest joy. She was a devoted mother to Kristine (Sean) Linnan of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and Alan (Jocelyn) Brincks of Ankeny, Iowa. Nothing brought her more pride than her grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Ezra, Ophelia, and Paxton Linnan, Carrick and Elizabeth Brincks. She cherished every moment with them and spoke of them often, always with love and pride.

Norma is survived by her siblings: Barbara (Maurice) Gieber of Belleville, Kansas; Marjorie (David) Collins of St. Peter, Minnesota; Susan (Joseph) Balik of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; Debra (Gary) Schwickerath of New Hampton, Iowa; Tim Brincks of New Hampton; Bernard (Sherrie) Brincks of Ionia, Iowa; William (Stephanie) Brincks of Frederika, Iowa; and Michael (Jill) Brincks of New Hampton, Iowa. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Larry Rodgers of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Guido Brincks, and her mother-in-law, Jane Rodgers.

Norma's life was one of quiet devotion, steady work, and unconditional love for her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
