Norma Carol Ross

Norma Carol Ross, age 94, of Plainfield passed away peacefully in her residence on February 12, 2026. She was born on November 9, 1931, in Levee, Illinois to the late Hurlie Stole Lierly and Frieda Hope Arntzen Lierly. Norma married Dr. Herbert L. Ross on June 7, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2024. They shared 70 years of marriage together. Norma and Herb loved to travel and took many fantastic trips and cruises. In 1998, they purchased a condo in Naples, Florida where they loved spending their winters for 20 years until 2018.

Norma started her career as a second-grade teacher. She then was a secretary for the University of Illinois. Norma was an avid tennis player, loved playing bridge, was a masterful cook and a talented seamstress. Norma loved watching her children and grandchildren engage in a variety of activities. She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, Alpha Sigma Alpha Social Sorority, Terre Haute Tennis Club and the Indiana State University Faculty Wives.

Survivors include her children: Randall Lane Ross (Nancy) of Littleton, CO, Rhonda Lynette Ross McDonald (Alan) of Hillsboro, IN. and Julie Carol Ross Siepman (Ken) of Plainfield, IN. Grandchildren: Cory Ross, Becky Ross Moore, Casey Ross, Ross McDonald, Morgan McDonald Sweet, Courtney Siepman and Kira Siepman. Great-grandchildren: Jack Ross, Charlotte Ross, Hudson Ross, Everly Moore, Quinly Moore, Taylor McDonald, Jackson McDonald, Esti Sweet and Sia Sweet. She was preceded in death by her Brother Gene Lierly and Sister Joann Hill.

The family would like to thank Norma's loving care team Maggie and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion the past few years.  

A private family visitation will be held in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Private funeral services will be held in the funeral home. A private burial will take place in Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.
