Norma Scheller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by William H. Kresge Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 1, 2025.
Norma P. "Chip" Scheller, of Effort, PA, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Brookmont Healthcare Center.
She was the loving wife of the late Norman Scheller. They celebrated 67 years of marriage together before his passing on February 23, 2021.
Born on July 4, 1935, in Alderson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold S. Bond and the late Alice (Hoffner) Bond.
Norma graduated from Chestnuthill High School as valedictorian in 1953. She sailed to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth to join her husband who was in the U.S. Army and worked in the hospitals in Fontainebleau, France and Landstuhl, Germany. Upon returning to the United States, she worked for Family Practice Association (now St. Luke's Family Practice of Brodheadsville) for 29 years. She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in the church auxiliary. She was also very active in working at the church stand at the West End Fair. Her joy each year before opening day of the fair was to have a luncheon for all the volunteer firemen of the West End Fire Company. She very seldomly missed doing the daily crossword puzzles in the Pocono Record and loved spending her time doing crafts and working in her flowerbeds. Norma will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons, David Scheller and his wife Christina, Michael Scheller and his wife Wendy; a granddaughter, Jenna Scheller; step grandchildren, Amanda Altemose, Matthew Altemose and his wife Ashley; a sister, Marion Miller; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Roth. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, June Hook, Meryl Keiper, and her brothers, Larry Bond and Harold "Bud" Bond.
A graveside burial will be scheduled on a later date at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, Effort. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In Norma's memory, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 19 Effort, PA 18330.
