Norma Whetstone, age 83, of Belleville, died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Four Fountains Nursing Home in Belleville.
She was born April 25, 1940 in Akron, OH, the daughter of the late Harold and Martha (Shoemaker) Wolfe. She married Allen Bradford Whetstone December 22, 1958. He preceded her in death.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Lee Whetstone; a son-in-law, John P. Schmidt; and two sisters: Diana Hansson and Dorothy Jordan.
Norma is survived by three children: Laura Marie Schmidt of Illinois, Paul Allen (Maryann) Whetstone of Texas and Andrew Gerald (Tamara) Whetstone of Ohio; nine grandchildren: Brad, Brian, Shannon, Sydney, Vincent, Annika, Haley, Isabella and Andrew, Jr; four great-grandchildren: Renae, John, Vada and Declan; and two brothers: John (Marilyn) Wolfe of Ohio and Michael (Connie) Wolfe of Florida.
Norma resided in Akron, Ohio from 1940-1975; Bossier City Louisiana from 1975-2014; and Belleville, Illinois from 2014-2023. She was employed by and retired from the US Government, serving as a customer representative for the IRS. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and walking her dogs. She always had a dog and loved them like her children.
