Norman Blucher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Madison on Dec. 12, 2023.

Norman Wayne Blucher, age 74, died suddenly at home in Verona on December 6, 2023. Norm was born on April 24, 1949, to his parents, John and Mary (Lough) Blucher.

Norm was gravely injured at age 19 while serving as a Marine in Vietnam at the battle of Khe Sahn and received the Purple Heart Medal. While these disabling injuries forced his retirement from the military, he proudly joined a community of fellow veterans who gave so much of themselves for their country. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

His injuries didn’t stop him from working for many years at the post office. Norm loved cars and auto racing and he spent countless hours under the hood or at the racetrack. He also enjoyed many weekends at the lake and epic gambling trips to Laughlin, NV, with his brother Chuck. His teasing and quick wit will be missed by all who knew Norm.

Norm is survived by his sisters: Nancy (Matt) Denman, Patti Preston, and Mary Black; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry companion, Aurora. He is also survived by the beloved family he took under his wing, Sharina Orabi, and her children: Layla, Carson, and Theo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Geraldine; his brothers: Ken, Dan, and Jim; and half-brothers: Chuck, John and Gary.

Special thanks to the team at St. Croix Hospice who took such respectful and loving care of Norm, which enabled him to stay at home as he wished. Per Norm’s request, there will be no formal funeral service or visitation.

A burial with military honors will take place at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery family plot in the Town of Kingston. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to help cover Norm’s final expenses. They can be mailed in care of his sister, Nancy Denman, to Cremation Society at 2729 S. 108th St, West Allis 53227.
