William Blucher Obituary

William Harold Blucher

September 18, 1951 - June 4, 2025

Sacramento, California - William Harold Blucher (Bill), 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Sacramento, surrounded by family after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born on September 18, 1951, in Sacramento, Bill was the son of the late Harold and Dolores Blucher. He grew up in East Sacramento and attended Sacred Heart Parish School, Christian Brothers High School, and the University of California, Berkeley. He later earned his Master's in Taxation from Golden Gate University. A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish, Bill remained rooted in the Sacramento community throughout his life.

In 1978, Bill met the love of his life, Deborah (Debbie). They soon settled in the Little Pocket neighborhood, where they raised their three children and built a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of countless family celebrations, holidays, and family milestones. Among the many joys that filled their home, Labradors held a special place in Bill's heart and were a cherished part of family life. His final companion, Winston, stayed faithfully by his side, offering comfort and love every day.

Bill became a Certified Public Accountant in 1981 and went on to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of El Dorado Savings Bank. He dedicated 44 years to the bank and continued to serve on the Board of Directors after his retirement in 2021, remaining active until his passing. In addition to his professional work, Bill prepared taxes for friends and family for more than 40 years, always happy to support the people in his life.

He had a passion for photography, hiking, barbecuing, traveling, and gardening. He especially cherished summers in Lake Tahoe and the lasting memories he created there with his family. A lifelong believer in giving back, Bill was also a proud and frequent blood donor, contributing 43 gallons through Vitalant over the course of his life.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Debbie Blucher; his children Elizabeth Blucher, William Blucher Jr. (Rachael), and Carolyn Blucher; and his three adored grandchildren: William Harold Blucher III (Harry), Charlotte Blucher, and Sophia Blucher. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Blucher, and was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Boll.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, 1040 39th St, Sacramento, CA 95816.

Bill, I am so saddened by your passing, but grateful that I was able to share life's experiences with you this past decade. Your love for family and concern for other's wellbeing exhibited the characteristics of a confident and yet humble person. Thank you for the memories. My condolences to your family. In time, may they gain the strength to move forward and find peace in your passing. You will be missed, but never forgotten. RIP my friend; someday I hope to see you on the other side . . .
