Norman was married to Emma Furgeson in 1956 and had four children Lee Ann, Vicki, Kevin, and Randy. In 1982, he married Nancy (Sliney) Johnson and welcomed to his family her children Anne Thompson, Sarah Eastwood, Dorothea (Squeak) Torres, Stephen Ham, Julie Ham, Thomas Mckinnon, and Eric Donovan.
Norman was retired from Special Forces in the Army after 20 years of service. He retired as an E8 Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a para-trooper and enjoyed kicking people out of airplanes.
Along the way he got the nick-name Stormin' Norman and was happy to tell people that he was sweet and loveable.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes spread over the grave of his late wife, Nancy Brown.
