Norman Alvin Clough, cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Norman was born on July 31, 1937, in Ingleside, MD, to Paul Clough and Edith Thompson Clough. His life was defined by his love for his loyal dog and companion, Bonnie, and his deep connection to his community of family and friends.
Norman's early years in Ingleside were spent on the family farm. He joined the military at a young age and was stationed in Germany. After returning to the U.S., Norman dedicated many years of service as a meat cutter for Acme Markets, where his hard work was well-known and appreciated by both colleagues and customers. After his tenure at Acme, he embraced a second career as a salesman for Square One Electronics. In retirement, he loved traveling the country and hosting family and friends-always with Bonnie by his side-at his favorite place: his cabin on the Chester River.
Norman had a lifelong passion for classic cars, a love that extended well beyond a hobby. He owned numerous vintage vehicles, but took particular pride in preserving his father's 1932 Ford Model B. His 1964 ½ Ford Mustang was by far his favorite acquisition, making memorable appearances at many of his grandchildren's weddings.
An avid outdoorsman, Norman found peace in the woods. A skilled huntsman, he especially enjoyed turkey hunting and often traveled up and down the East Coast in search of the perfect gobbler. These moments of solitude in nature brought him great joy and reflection.
Norman is survived by his children: Michel A. Clough, Sandra D. Bauer, Lori L. Clough, and Melissa J. Lucas. He was equally devoted to his daughter-in-law, Sheila Clough, and his son-in-law, Michael Lucas. His joy multiplied with the arrival of each of his grandchildren: Dr. Brandy Cooper, Jacob Wilson, Dylan Bauer, Jared Clough, Dakota Tielleman, and Morgan Wilson-and again with his great-grandchildren: Ryan Wilson, Kennedy Cooper, Brode Bauer, and Mason Bauer. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Betty Ann Coleman-Rackers, and her husband, Alan Rackers.
Norman Alvin Clough will be remembered not only for the life he led but for the love and laughter he brought to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the countless memories they shared.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 10 AM in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, Maryland.
