Norman Lee Davis, 83, of Odessa, Texas went home peacefully to the arms of Jesus on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. After 10 years apart, he was joyfully reunited with his grandson, Zack, as well as his parents, brother, and many other cherished loved ones. We can only imagine the celebration and reunion that took place in Heaven that day.

Norman was born July 27, 1942, in Stamford, Texas to Roy and Lucille Davis. He was the oldest of four boys- Donald, Danny, and Kenneth. He attended school in Stamford, Texas, Lueders, Texas and later in Wink, Texas, before receiving his GED from Odessa College in 1995.

At just 18 years old after enlisting to serve his county in the United States Navy, he and three friends set out for basic training in San Diego, California on their Harley Davidson motorcycles. He proudly served in the Navy from 1960 to 1966. He was aboard the USS Firedrake and was later stationed in Alaska. His time in the Navy gave him the opportunity to see much of the world and he carried the honor of being a veteran with immense pride throughout his life.

Norman met the love of his life Norma in Kermit, Texas. His name was Norman Lee and her name is Norma Lee, what a coincidence. They were married on December 10, 1963, and celebrated 61 wonderful years together. For their 50th anniversary in 2013, Norman surprised Norma with a full wedding ceremony to renew their wedding vows, a testament to his deep and lifelong devotion. He had promised Norma’s father he would always take good care of her, and he faithfully kept that promise every day of his life. Together, they raised two children, Wesley and Stacey, in Odessa.

Norman dedicated most of his career to welding and he was known for sharing his specialty welding skills with others. He also volunteered as a fireman while living in Wink, Texas. Beyond work, Norman’s greatest joys came from being a devoted husband, dad, papa, great grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

A proud Christian, Norman’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He never missed an opportunity to share the gospel, always hoping to see his family and friends accept Christ as their Savior – a goal that through his faith and prayers were fulfilled. We will miss his Facebook posts of Heaven and salvation and the picture collages he learned to make on his own.

Despite life’s challenges- including beating cancer twice and living as an amputee – Norman’s spirit remained strong. He refused to let anything slow him down, moving quickly with his walker and keeping his sense of humor and determination. He had a special love for animals and especially loved his dog Lucky whom he spoiled with home cooked meals and endless affection. Fittingly, Lucky passed away the very same day as Norman, showing that they truly were inseparable.

Norman’s life was a shining example of love, generosity, strength, and unwavering faith. While he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now walking the streets of gold in his eternal home, free of pain and reunited with those who went before him. He asked that no one cry for him but instead rejoice in his Heavenly reward.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Norma Davis; son, Wes Davis and wife Denise; daughter, Stacey Erwin and husband Scott; grandchildren, Dillon Davis, Jordan Tucker and husband Clayton, Reagan Jenkins and husband Nathan, Ali Cruz and husband Danny, Haley Shook and husband Brendon, Keaton Davis and Cloe Erwin; great grandchildren, Kendall and Colson Jenkins, Reece and Charlee Tucker.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Roy and Lucille Davis; his brother, Donald Davis; and his grandson Zackrey Landry, along with many other precious family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas with Tony Grainger and Pastor Johnny Touchstone officiating. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to causes dear to Norman’s heart- VFW Odessa, Texas or Meals on Wheels of the Permian Basin.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to his doctors, MCH nurses, church family, neighbors, and friends for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time.
