Norman E Hamel
89, was called home by his heavenly father on September 7, 2025. He was born on July 3, 1936, to Marion (Bossineau) Hamel and Albert E Hamel in Berlin, NH. Norman attended Holy Rosary grade school, then Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH. Graduating in 1954, that same year he joined the U.S. Air Force. Norman married the love of his life Bertha Marquis on April 19, 1958, from this union three beautiful children were born. Norman was an extremely hard worker and throughout his life had several different careers. After proudly serving in the Air Force for four years, he continued in the U.S. Army National Guard retiring after twenty years. He had a career in law enforcement serving as a N.H. State trooper and a Chief of police in Newmarket, N.H. Norman enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips, having get togethers and going to baseball games at Fenway Park. He enjoyed all sports. He coached a championship womens softball team for several years. Norm and Bert loved to dance, in fact, were the Jitterbug champions of the Seacoast. Norm never met a stranger and always had a smile for you. He enjoyed an occasional Bourbon. He was a great story teller, at family gathering he would entertain by telling jokes. Survivors include sisters Lorraine Charron of Enid, OK and Doris Moreau of Rochester, NH, children Wanda (James) Jolley of Enid OK., Steven Hamel (Susan) of Elliot, ME, Denise Hamel and her wife Randi of Wichita, KS., grandchildren Jason (Allison) Seigars, Jessica Seigars, Jennifer Seigars, Jayme (Iyad) Sultan all of Enid, OK, Justin Hamel of Mexico and Paige (Jared) Goding of Elliot, ME, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by parents and wife of 66 years Bertha. Celebration of Life for Norman will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday September 20, 2025, at Affinity All Faith Mortuary 2850 S Seneca, Wichita, KS 67217. In lieu of flowers donate to your charity of choice in memory of Norman.
