Norman Curtis Hester, (Curt), 79, of North Little Rock, passed away July 28, 2023, at Chambers Health and Rehabilitation in Carlisle. He was born May 24, 1944, to the late O.C. Hester and Minnie (Tillery) Hester in Cass, Arkansas. Curt is also preceded in death by brother Jack Hester and sisters Medge Bowman-Hester and Mary (Sis) Hester.
Curt graduated in 1962 from North Little Rock High School. He was in numerous Science clubs and excelled in Math and Biology. He soon joined the United States Air Force. When asked about his time in the service he would always have tales about his time being stationed in Madrid, Spain.
When he returned home, he met and married the love of his life. They then became foster parents to many children in need and eventually adopted their only child. As a family they spent many years in boy scouts. While in boy scouts, he was awarded with many honors, but his greatest achievement was receiving the Vigil Honor.
Through the years he worked at Arkansas Industrial Machinery where he retired after 39 years.
Curt is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Jean Ann Hester; son and daughter in law, Kyle (Alex) and Stephanie Hester. Brothers Clay Hester of California and L.D. Hester; and a host of family members and friends.
Visitation will take place Friday, August 4, 2023, from 5 - 7 PM, and funeral service will be held Monday, August 7, 2023, at 9 AM. Both will take place at Smith Family Funeral Homes in North Little Rock.
