Norman L. Morris (88) passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, in his home after a reoccurring battle with cancer. He was freed of his pain and finally at peace while surrounded by his wife and family. Norman was born May 2,1937 in Geuda Springs, KS to Orville (Bud) Morris and Verna (Karnes) Morris. Norman was a devoted husband to Sue for nearly 63 years and a loving father to Todd, Brian and Jennifer.

After graduating from Newkirk high school in 1956, Norman served in the US Air Force as an engine mechanic. After his discharge, Norman and Sue Hennington were married in Arkansas City, KS on October 9,1962 and they lived in the surrounding areas before landing in Arkansas City in 1966. Norman worked for GE for 10 years before making a career as a conductor/brakeman for Burlington Northern (BNSF) from which he retired in 2002. He loved to drag race, working on cars (mainly FORD) and watching his OU Sooners. Most importantly he deeply loved spending time with his family, watching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in their sports and visiting with his friends.

Cremation will take effect, and a service will be held at Rindt Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City, KS on Thursday July 10, 2025 at 2:00PM, followed by a private graveside at Riverview Cemetery.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Sue of the home, son Todd (Melody) Morris of Parkerfield, KS, son Brian (Harmony) Morris of Anna, TX and daughter Jennifer (Wade) Moore of Arkansas City, KS. Grandchildren are Mandi (Russ) Lathers, Brittany (Ben) Saxbee, Adam (Colleen) Morris, Jospeh (Lauren) Morris, Raven (Sterling) Shelton, Emma Rubalcaba, Erin (John) Williams, Alek Potter, Kaitlyn Potter, Lauren (Lewis) Derrett, Seth (Payton) Moore and Allison Moore. Great-grandchildren are Dailey and Reaghan Hockenbury, Journey Pool, Anna, Zoey and Nicholas Saxbee, Lily, Lainey, Quinn, Bella and Kent Morris, Ember and Tyler Shelton, Amelia and Mason Williams and Kaycen Potter.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Lane and many other family members and friends.

As a family, we were able to honor Dad's wishes and keep him home with the help of family and Gentiva Hospice. Donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice through Rindt Erdman Funeral Home.
