Darren E. Taylor, 66, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away September 9, 2025, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.

Darren was born Nov. 5, 1958, in Arkansas City, KS, to Leroy and Margaret Taylor. He was also raised and educated in Arkansas City.

Darren went to work for his father with Power Constructors as a journeyman lineman for several years. He then worked for Cessna Aircraft in the paint shop until their closing. After Cessna, he went to work for Dixie Portland Flour Mill that later became ADM Milling Co. working in the east Plant for many years helping manage the Safety/Health & Environmental.

Darren Taylor was a passionate outdoorsman, known especially for his love of archery hunting. Over the years, his dedication earned him recognition in several articles published by Whitetail Bowhunter Magazine. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling, with Alaska holding a special place in his heart.

On weekends, Darren found joy in grilling and cooking for his family and friends-gatherings that reflected his generous spirit and love for those closest to him. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity. Darren had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger; his ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Darren was preceded in death by his longtime hunting and fishing partner Chad Speer; his father, Leroy Taylor; his mother, Margaret Reed; his niece, Amber Taylor Brunswig; and Orval and Ethel Johnson, whom he lovingly considered adopted parents by choice.

He is survived by his sisters, Dee Clark and Tracy Taylor; his brother, Chris Taylor and wife Melinda; nieces Andrea Pickering and Amy Furnas; nephews Tristan Taylor and wife Lindsey, Tyson Taylor and wife Kimber, and Casey Taylor. Darren also leaves behind a wide circle of cherished friends and extended family who will deeply miss him and carry forward his memory.

Cremation services are being provided by Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Darren at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society.

The Tidwell´s

September 14, 2025

Darren was so special to us and we are devastated to hear of this news. Since we moved out here over four years ago and well before that, he was always so willing to help and do whatever he could to make us feel looked after and welcome. Looking after others, especially his neighbors was his special gift, unlike any other. He even built a bond with extended family that has spent significant time on the farm and were also deeply saddened to hear of this news. Our love, prayers and sympathy, go out to his family and friends and please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you in this difficult time. Terry, Jean and Missy Tidwell.
