Motz, 83, of Poseyville, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born to Armand Motz, Sr. and Frances (Will) Motz Seib on October 26, 1941 in Poseyville, Indiana. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Norman graduated Cynthiana High School in 1959 and was a star athlete playing both baseball and basketball. He still holds the title of scoring the most points in the Posey County Tourney. He also, as the pitcher, beat Bob Griese's team in baseball. Softball was another passion of Norman's. He played for many years on the St. Francis team, later coaching that team which became R&C&Motz. He enjoyed baseball and basketball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He worked as a carpenter for 50 plus years and after his father's death, he and his brother Armand co-owner & operator of Motz Construction, Inc. for 30 years. Norman was always an extremely hard worker and a consummate perfectionist. He loved working in his yard looking forward to planting numerous flowers every spring. His greatest joy was his family who he loved dearly. His grandson loved hearing him read to him and would come running to him the minute we pulled up. Surviving are his wife of 62 years: Terri (Strange) Motz; children: Michele Millon (Brent) and Stephen Motz; grandson: Micah Motz; brothers: Armand Motz, Jr. (Peggy) and Raymond Motz (Steffanie); brother and sisters in laws: Jeanne Wilderman (Bill), Jane Seib (Ernie), Mary Jo Hipp (Dave), Jon Strange (Debbie), Bobbi Ziliak (Dennis) and Jenni Anderson (Joseph) along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister in law: Vicki Dillon; brother in law: Danny Ziliak; nephews: Kevin Dillon and Christopher Motz along with his mother and father in law: Emil and Alien Strange. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Poseyville, Indiana with burial in the church cemetery, Father Ed Schnur officiating. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Easter Seals, 3701 Bellemeade Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 or Riley Hospital for Children Fund, 30 S. Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
