Florence Elizabeth Motz (Rehkugler) A life fully lived

Florence Elizabeth Motz, also known as Flo, Flossy, and Reh, passed away peacefully in the early morning on November 6, 2025. She was born in Highspire, PA to Elsie Mae and Christian Eugene Rehkugler on July 12, 1936. Florence was the youngest of 10 children and had six sisters and three brothers. She was a proud alumna and band member of Steelton High School, and she forever embodied the steamroller morale.

Upon graduation, Florence worked for local businesses in various roles, but her adventurous spirit yearned for something bigger. So one day during her lunch hour, she saw the Uncle Sam poster and enlisted in the US Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1956. She was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, where she served as a secretary to a four-star general. She embraced every minute of her military experience, including boot camp!

Soon thereafter, Florence met and fell deeply in love with Friedrich (Fritz) Motz at a local dance club in 1960. They were married one year later in Frederick, Maryland. She served again in Germany, but this time in Frankfurt as a military wife, when Fritz was drafted into the US Army in 1961. They took every opportunity to travel around Europe in their Volkswagen Bug, which remained her favorite car to drive.

Florence and Fritz danced together for 64 years of marriage. They had three children (Sonja, Fred, and Suzann) and three grandchildren (Paul, David, and Eowyn). Florence loved being a mother, grandmother, and aunt to her 37 nieces and nephews, along with their children. Her adventurous spirit can now soar freely!

I'll love you forever, Mom.

-Suzann
