Margaret "Peg" Mary Motz (née Keane), age 96, a resident of Villa St. Benedict in Lisle and longtime of Oak Brook, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. She was born January 9, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Michael and Mabel Keane.
Peg was the beloved wife of the late Anton Motz; loving sister of the late Anna Marie (Edward) Tansey and the late Mabel (William) Broderick.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Michael (Fabiola) Broderick, Daniel (Dawn) Broderick, Margaret (Michael) Pote, Patricia (Adam) Hibben, and Catherine Broderick; her great-nieces and nephews Kevin (Tiffany), Caroline, Kathleen, Bryan, Andrew, Lindsey, Maggie, Lilly, Devin (Ashley), Celia, and Anna; and her great-great-nieces and nephews Kinsley, Kellin, Derek, Declan, and Dawson. Peg is also survived by her stepchildren Linda Motz, Lisa (Bruce Bruemmer) Motz, Stephanie (Michael Fisher) Motz, Eric Motz, and John (Martha) Motz; and step-grandchildren Sarah and Nathan Bruemmer, and Elena Fisher.
A former Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin, Peg devoted her life to teaching. First in Catholic schools in Iowa, New York, and Illinois, and later for more than 25 years as a first-grade teacher at Miller School in Westmont. She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, wit, and steady love of family, and for the generations of children whose lives she shaped through education.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 4:00-7:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and Friday, October 3, 10:00-11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel, 1910 Maple Avenue, Lisle. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Memorial donations may be directed to either the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary or the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
