Joseph J. Powers, age 92, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1967, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025 at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. He was born on January 21, 1933 in Chicago.
Joe is survived by his loving children, Michael Powers, Patricia (Morris) Thompson, Kathleen Powers, Brian (Carol) Powers, Joseph (Nanette) Powers, Terrence Powers, and John Powers; his cherished grandchildren, Michael (Yana) and Colleen Powers, Jacqui (Chris) McGrew, Brian (Emily) Powers, Bridgette (Armando) Chacon, Steven (Adrian) Powers, Scott (Tania) Powers, Monica (Peter) Boyum, James (Elle) Powers, Madeline (Ethan) Aisbet, Mary Ann Powers, Jake Powers, Sara Jarrett and Callie (Shane) Marshall, Jennifer (Sam) Crea, TJ (Alicia) Powers, and great-grandchildren, Rachel and James Powers, Maebh and Bridgette McGuire, Kayla, Jack, Cameron and Jade McGrew, Savanna, Brian, Jr., and Sienna Powers, Isabella, Isaac, Vincent, and Charles Chacon, Graham, Blair and Cole Powers, Elliott Powers, Ella, Sage and Nora Boyum, Jesse Aisbet, River and Remi Powers; his dear siblings, Tom (Mary) Powers and Jerry (the late Barbara) Powers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Powers, and her sons, Thomas Powers and Richard Powers (in infancy); his parents, Cyril and Frances Powers, and his brother, Frank Powers.
Joe was a devoted longtime member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, where his gifted voice enriched the Sunday choir for many years. A man of many interests, he found joy in fishing, basketball, boxing, and tennis. Joe also built a fulfilling lifelong career as an insurance agent, working proudly and side by side with his beloved wife, Mary Ann. His warmth, talent, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Joe's life, memorial donations may be directed to Little Friends, 27555 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL 60555.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 1:00-5:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 1, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Interment will be at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Sorry for your loss Powers family.......have known joe since 1978 and have met others over the years.No wonder joey jr could box well as he beat david feiner in the doherty backyard in july of 1980.Rest in peace mr powers.
