Norman Muse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Circle of Life Funeral Home on Dec. 15, 2025.
We gather to honor and remember the life of Norman E. Muse Sr., who was born on July 21, 1947, in Camden, NJ, and passed away on December 6, 2025. An embodiment of resilience, Norman was a beacon of strength and determination. His ambitious spirit propelled him through life, inspiring all who knew him. His charismatic personality was infectious, and his adventurous soul made him a joy to be around. Whether it was his time in the Marines after graduating from Deptford High in 1966 or his ventures across the country from Detroit to Arizona and back to his beloved New Jersey, Norman's life was a testament to his indomitable spirit.

Norman's life was a journey of love, perseverance, and faith. After marrying Carol (Joanne) Holmes in 1969, they were blessed with two children, Kenya and Norman. His adventurous spirit led him to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked at Ford Motors. Eventually, he returned to New Jersey, where he launched a successful cleaning business and opened a bar. In 2010, he moved to Arizona, where he served in security, before returning to New Jersey in 2022. Norman found joy in music, lending his voice to the community choir and the Men's Gospel Group. His love for his family was paramount, and he instilled the values of resilience, ambition, and adventure in his children, a legacy that continues to live on.

He is survived by his daughters, Kenya Muse(Pop), and Anitra Larkins-Holtz (Greg), his sons, Timothy Nelson (Tammy), Tymir and Jamal Hayes, along with his ex-wife, Carol Muse, ten beloved grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Donna Bailey, April Williams (Carl), and Linda Harcum(Garland), his close cousin Larry Merchant, close friends Albert Jiles, Alfred Cutler and Brenda Liles, his caregiver Althea(Peachie)Jiles, his Godson, Makin El Hall and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Norman Jr., his parents, Theodore and Sarah Muse, his brothers, Frank and Theodore Muse and Kevin R. Coleman, his grandchildren, Brandon and Crystal Muse.

In the words of the Apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). Norman lived this scripture, proving that faith, resilience, and love could overcome any obstacle. His life will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 9:00 am EST at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey, 08093.

We invite you to share your memories of Norman, upload photos, and celebrate his life on the memorial page. His story, like his spirit, lives on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. Let's remember Norman for the resilient, ambitious, charismatic, and adventurous soul he was.
